el paso dental emergency

If you have broken a tooth, or have developed discomfort that doesn’t pass after a few hours, then you have a dental emergency. Our team is ready to address your serious concerns, even outside of normal business hours. In today’s blog, your El Paso, TX, dentists talk about our approach to emergency dentistry.

Common Emergency Scenario

When should you contact our team to undergo emergency dental care? This should happen when you sustain an injury to a tooth, experience persistent pain, or have a tooth that is knocked loose or out. Compromised restorations, such as loose or lost crowns or fillings, are a cause for concern, as is an object stuck between your teeth. If the issue is potentially life threatening, then call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room right away. Otherwise, you should give us a call so we can arrange for a visit, and we also accept walk-ins in these situations too!

How to Contact Our Team

We accept walk-ins starting at 9am Monday through Saturday at our East side location on 1788 North Zaragoza Road. You can also book online from our homepage and select the east side or northeast practice. You can call or text us as well, 915-849-9000 reaches our east side locale, and you can contact the northeast location at 915-759-7000 location. Remember, the sooner we see you the sooner we can repair the tooth and bring relief, while also sparing you from complications like tooth decay or dental infection. In fact, with options like bonding or contouring, we can often repair damage in only one sitting!

Easing Your Discomfort

Once you call us, you can take steps to ease your discomfort until we can see you for repair. When a tooth is chipped or aching, or an object is caught between it, you can rinse with warm water and use cloth to control bleeding and an ice pack to the side of the face to control swelling. You can try and dislodge trapped objects with loss, but if this fails don’t use anything else as you risk damaging your gums. If a filling or crown is loose or lost, avoid sugary foods and drinks or items that are very hot or cold, as the exposed tooth is sensitive. If a tooth is knocked out, pick it up by the crown, not the root. Then place it in a sealed container of milk or salt water to protect it until we can see you.
