Bridges & Dentures

Dental Bridges & Dentures

Tooth loss isn’t inevitable, but it affects a majority of adults for a number of different reasons (the most common of which is periodontal disease). When it occurs, replacing the tooth or teeth that you’ve lost is vital to the continued good health of your smile. To that end, we offer custom-designed dental bridges, partial dentures, and complete dentures to rebuild your smile no matter how many teeth you’ve lost. Usually, bridges and dentures are crafted from highly lifelike porcelain, which closely mimics the color, hue, and light-reflecting properties of healthy, natural teeth.

Dental Bridges

If you’ve lost a single tooth, or two or more teeth in a row, then a dental bridge may be the most efficient way to replace them. Your dentist can design your dental bridge with an appropriate number of replacement teeth, known as pontics, and two dental crowns that fit over the teeth on each side of the gap. The crowns and abutment teeth support the bridge and keep it firmly in place as you bite, chew, and speak.

Partial and Complete Dentures

Dentures are recommended for tooth loss that is too extensive for a dental bridge to address. A complete denture can be crafted to replace an entire upper or lower ridge of teeth, while a partial denture can be designed to fit around any teeth that still remain. Dentures consist of a comfortable, gum-colored base, and in the case of partial dentures, one or more comfortably hidden clasps.

If you qualify, your dentist might also suggest supporting your partial or complete denture on a series of dental implants. The strategically placed implant posts can support your dental prosthetic in the same way that roots support your natural, healthy teeth.
