Losing a large number of natural teeth, or even all of them, could threaten your oral health and leave your smile weakened. But we can help, replacing what has been lost with custom full or partial dentures. In today’s blog, your team at Sunny Smiles Family Dentistry talks about securing full smiles with full and partial dentures.
Partials
When you have a smile with multiple gaps across the arch, this could be too severe for a bridge alone to handle. But with a partial denture, we can fill all of these gaps at once, handling your complex tooth loss. To begin, we will examine your smile with digital imaging and gather the information needed to design and craft your prosthetic. The prosthetic will contain new teeth made from durable and lifelike ceramic, and set in a base that mimics the appearance of gum tissues. When put in place, the new teeth fit snugly in the gaps, addressing all of your lost teeth at once. Clasps will attach to natural teeth to keep your prosthetic firmly in place. On average, your partial will last about 5 top 10 years, and will need to be removed for a cleaning and soaking.
Fulls
If you have lost most or all of your teeth, then you need more than a partial. We can offer a full denture to address all of your teeth at once, on one or both arches. To begin, we will need to extract any remaining teeth, which we can do comfortably, and then take images and impressions of your bite, which are crucial for designing your new smile. The complete denture will have a full row of new ceramic teeth set in an acrylic base that looks like gum tissue. Suction or adhesives will keep the prosthetic in place during the day, and the prosthetic will need to be cleaned and soaked at night.
Support with Dental Implants
While removable prosthetics are effective, we could offer a more durable and longer-lasting alternative with our dental implants. With this option, we insert metal posts, implants, which act as new roots and keep your jawbone intact. We then attach the new teeth to these, so you have a fixed prosthetic that never slips or requires removal for maintenance, and which could last for decades to come with proper care and attention.
