In only one visit, our team can help you enjoy a full smile again. Not only that, but we can do so with a prosthetic that can preserve your jaw and last for decades. In today’s blog, your El Paso, TX, dentists discuss how we address tooth loss and what it takes to support same-day dental implants!
The Traditional Placement System
Traditionally, once we insert the dental implant post into the jaw, then we need to wait three to four months on average of the placement area to properly heal, and for osseointegration to take place, which bonds the post to the jaw like a natural root. After the waiting period is over, we then connect an abutment to the post or posts, and attach a crown for individual one, or a portion of a bridge or prosthetic like a denture. You then have a complete smile, but the process could take several months to complete. However, in some cases we could provide same-day dental implants, so you leave with a complete smile.
The Same-Day Difference
With the same day process, we will carefully examine your smile. If we need to replace a tooth or several, we can do so in the same sitting. We then choose the best angle and position for your new roots, and we insert these posts into your smile and attach abutments to them. In the same sitting, we will connect a crown or possibly a denture, one that has been custom made beforehand to ensure a lifelike appearance and to reflect your unique facial structure. You then leave the office with a full smile! You will receive instructions for care as your smile heals following placement.
The Benefits of Your New Teeth
With dental implants, we stimulate the growth of jawbone structure to prevent the loss of mass and density that follows tooth loss. Which means the jaw stays intact and your new teeth can last for decades to come, possibly even a lifetime! You will be able to eat your favorite foods again, and also speak without difficulty. You may feel more confident in social situations, and your new teeth will look and function like natural ones. If you have a denture, you don’t need to remove it for cleaning, and it will never slip when you eat or speak.
